Robust M-periodogram with dichotomous search
نویسندگان
چکیده
The problem of sinusoidal frequency estimation in heavy-tailed noise environment is addressed. A method based on the robust M -periodogram is proposed. Specifically, a suboptimal coarse frequency estimate provided by the robust M -periodogram is improved using the modified dichotomous search. Simulations that consider most common heavytailed noise models demonstrate that the proposed method outperforms several recently proposed methods. The method can be readily extended to deal with multiple sinusoids.

Searching for biological rhythms: peak detection in the periodogram of unequally spaced data.
The classical power spectrum, computed in the frequency domain, outranks traditionally used periodograms derived in the time domain (such as the chi2 periodogram) regarding the search for biological rhythms. Unfortunately, classical power spectral analysis is not possible with unequally spaced data (e.g., time series with missing data). The Lomb-Scargle periodogram fixes this shortcoming. Howev...
متن کاملRobust tests for testing the parameters of a normal population
This article aims to provide a simple robust method to test the parameters of a normal population by using the new diagnostic tool called the “Forward Search” (FS) method. The most commonly used procedures to test the mean and variance of a normal distribution are Student’s t test and Chi-square test, respectively. These tests suffer from the presence of outliers. We introduce the FS version of...

In this paper, we present a new idea for robust project scheduling combined with a cost-oriented uncertainty investigation. The result of the new approach is a makespan minimal robust proactive schedule, which is immune against the uncertainties in the activity durations and which can be evaluated from a cost-oriented point of view on the set of the uncertain-but-bounded duration and cost param...
متن کاملRobust time-frequency distributions
Study of the additive Gaussian noise influence on time-frequency (TF) distributions is an important issue [Article 9.1]. However, in many practical applications, especially in communications, signals are disturbed by a kind of impulse noise. These noises are commonly modeled by heavy-tailed (long-tailed) probability density functions (pdfs) [6]. It is well known fact that the conventional TF di...

We utilize a) detailed end-to-end numerical simulations of sample narrow-angle astrometric observing campaigns with the Space Interferometry Mission (SIM) and the subsequent data analysis process, and b) the set of extra-solar planetary systems discovered so far by radial velocity surveys as templates to provide meaningful estimates of the limiting capabilities of SIM for the detection and meas...
